carroll shelby to appear at QUANTUM PERFORMANCE’s “Team Shelby 1st Annual texas roundup” |
- Shelby to Participate in Tech School Ribbon Cutting & Car Show Dallas – Automobile legend Carroll Shelby will appear at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Carroll Shelby School of Automotive Technology as part of the Team Shelby Texas Roundup sponsored by Quantum Performance, an Authorized Shelby Mod Shop on October 25, 2008. The event, which will begin at Quantum Performance in Farmers Branch, will feature a rally near Mr. Shelby’s birthplace and end at Northeast Texas Community College with a muscle car and hot rod “Show & Shine” Car Show that will be free the public. “Northeast Texas Community College has put together a wonderful automotive technical program that gives young people the skills they need to be successful in the automobile industry,” said Mr. Shelby. “I encourage everyone to join me at the ribbon cutting ceremony to support a scholarship program that can really make a difference in the lives of those students.” The First Annual Texas Roundup is sanctioned by Team Shelby (www.TeamShelby.com), the factory authorized club for Shelby enthusiasts. Only 100 cars Shelby car or Ford powered vehicles can be part of the drive. The rally group is expected to include cars such as the Cobra, Shelby Mustang, Series 1 and GL-H, Ford GT, Falcon, Mustang, Pantera and Tiger. “We want to help Mr. Shelby teach young people how build a better life,” stated Kenny Northum, managing partner. “That’s why the rally fee will include a $50 donation directly into the scholarship fund for the Carroll Shelby School of Automotive Technology. People will be able to meet the legend himself and tour the beautiful back roads of East Texas while helping kids get an education.” The Team Shelby Texas Roundup will begin at Quantum Performance at 7:30 AM on October 25. The rally will end at NTCC in Mount Pleasant at about 11 AM for a show and shine. The college will conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Carroll Shelby School of Automotive Technology at approximately 1 PM. The rally fee will include lunch, a goody bag, donation to the scholarship fund and participation in the rally. The general public can attend the show and ceremony at no cost. “We have already received entries from members of the North Texas Mustang Club, Shelby Cobra Association of Texas, SAAC, SVT and Team Shelby, as well other enthusiasts who want to be part of this historic moment,” added Team Shelby Director Robert Lane. “The Team Shelby Texas Roundup will be a celebration of not only Carroll Shelby the man, but also the cars that his companies have built which continue to inspire us today.” Quantum Performance offers a full complement of speed equipment, as well as an upscale customer service area and parts store. Shelby Automobiles chose Quantum Performance as its “Southwest Shelby Mod Shop” facility to install packages that enhance the handling, styling and power of current generation V6 and V8 Ford Mustangs and Shelbys for enthusiasts in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Louisiana. Each vehicle will sport an official Shelby badge denoting the origin of all modifications for inclusion in the official Shelby Registry. Quantum Performance also enhances Mustangs with authentic Shelby Performance Parts. Individual components include upgraded brakes, superchargers, suspension components and cosmetic pieces such as hoods and fascias exclusively designed at Shelby Automobiles.
