DALLAS – Greg Fuller, current President of NAIOP North Texas, announced that Duke Realty Corporation (Duke) has won the prestigious “2008 Developer of the Year” award. Duke was presented the award at NAIOP’s breakfast on April 30, 2009, at The Dallas Country Club.

“This recognition would not have been possible without the efforts of everyone on Duke’s Dallas team. Our group worked extremely hard in a very challenging environment to earn this honor,” said Jeff Thornton, senior vice president, Duke Realty Corporation. “This award is particularly meaningful to us because it is not just based on square footage or dollar value, but also takes into account the developed projects’ impact on the community.”

“About 50 percent of our members are developers,” said Fuller. “This award is peer recognition of outstanding achievements in
 commercial real estate, and judged by the developer’s quality and quantity of work.”

NAIOP's Developer of the Year award is presented annually in recognition of an organization's outstanding achievements, and is open to firms that developed 200,000 square feet or more of commercial space between 2007 and 2008. Candidates are judged by the following criteria:

·       Quality of products and services
·       The ability to adapt to market conditions
·       Strong reputation in the real estate and general business communities
·       Active involvement in NAIOP
Awards committee chair Pax Glenn, of Glenn Commercial Real Estate, extended an invitation to membership for application packages. A five-member judging team reviewed all nominations, which included photos, property overviews and descriptions.

Past winners of “Developer of the Year” include Granite Properties and Hillwood. In addition, Duke took the award in 2005 and 2004 as well.
